Are you dreaming of a trip to a fun, warm, and friendly country? Dream no more. Choose Brazil for your next vacation! And you can do it all without breaking the bank. I must admit that anytime is a fun time to visit Brazil; however, many people have shown concern about the weather, the crowds, and most importantly, their budget. For these reasons, I decided to give you a few tips on the best time to visit Brazil on a budget.
I believe that the best time to visit Brazil is in September. The weather is pleasant; it is the beginning of springtime, and it's less crowded than in the peak seasons. And more importantly, you can save money on airline tickets, hotels, and more. It's essential to notice that you might have more options during the peak seasons, especially during the Brazilian summer (December – March). Still, September is always an enjoyable time to visit Brazil.
Here are a few tips for visiting Brazil without breaking the bank:
If You Can Resist, Avoid the Peak Seasons:
It is difficult to resist the peak seasons in Brazil. Summer in Brazil is very festive. Most places are open for business, and you can get wild with adventure. Unfortunately, this is not the most budget-friendly time to visit Brazil. If you can resist, avoid the peak seasons: summer (Dec-Mar), St. John’s Day Festivities (June), and Carnival (Varies. Usually Feb-Mar).
Visit More Affordable Cities/Places:
I love Rio de Janeiro, but I have to say that Rio de Janeiro can be intimidating for first-time visitors. It’s a big city with an overwhelming number of tourists. So, if you want to get a sense of Brazil without the crowds, try small towns. Visit small, unique places that can give you incredible experiences yet remain less expensive.
A small city can offer you a wide range of experiences, especially for those travelers who want to get away from overcrowded big cities and desire more contact with nature.
Here are some ideas: Maragogi, Monte Verde, Barra Grande, Lençóis, Bonito, Trancoso, Cascavel, Mucugê, Gramado. It’s hard to say that these places will be less expensive. It all depends on the time of year you choose to visit them. But, as a rule, these cities can be more affordable than most prominent cities in Brazil.
And if you want to explore one of the best regions of Brazil, don’t pass on traveling to the Northeast of Brazil.
Rent A Place on Your Own or Try Airbnb
There are great affordable apartments and rooms for rent throughout Brazil. Many with ocean views! Rent a place on your own or try Airbnb. It all depends on your preferences. While hotels are more directed towards tourism, other options can give you a better experience connecting to the Brazilian people and culture. Just be aware of scams if you decide to rent on your own. So, before you go, research the place, location, and reviews! With Airbnb, you can have more resources, and it’s a safer option if you don’t have family, friends, or the region’s knowledge of how to rent a place.
Shop in Brazil. Not Before Your Trip!
A friend of mine asked me what clothes she should buy before her trip to Brazil. I said: nothing! Don’t bother buying new clothes or shoes before your trip. Brazil has a wide variety of inexpensive yet unique, fashionable shops and boutiques! But if you must, please read my suggestion of what you should wear if you go to Brazil.
Explore Different Routes
Brazil is a big country with many airports and flight connections. Therefore, there are many options for most budgets. You will have more airline ticket options if you go via big airports in Rio or São Paulo; however, you shouldn’t limit your route to these airports. Instead, explore other courses in cities like Salvador, Recife, and Curitiba. Additionally, you can also go to Brazil by transferring from other airports in South America.
I have been doing a lot of searches on Google Flights, and I am impressed by how easy and practical it is. It offers tons of features to help you get the best price, routes, and more. So, play with its interface and try to find your budgeted path.
Take Advantage of The Currency Exchange Rate
Your dollar can go a long way in Brazil. A strong dollar can buy more goods when converted to the local currency. It’s that simple! You also will notice the services are less expensive (for better or worse!), providing you with more purchasing power in restaurants, hotels, shops, and more.
Summing up:
Brazil has tons of outstanding and affordable places to visit. One can find their perfect paradise in this unique country with some advanced research. And if you do your homework before your trip, I guarantee you that you can travel to Brazil without breaking the bank!
But, just for the record, I must admit that anytime is a fun time to visit Brazil!
And before you go, don’t forget to review some of the essential travel accessories you need for your trip.
Boa Viagem!
